Yosemite Trip
I took the weekend off and went to Yosemite for the first time! We stayed at the Tenaya Lodge at the south entrance of the park. We had dinner on Sat. night at Embers and the waiter was a fan of the Klinker Brick Old Vine Zin and loved the Old Ghost. It’s a small world!

Foodbuzz Tasting

Vinography Ratings for Treasure Island Wine Festival
Vineography.com gave the 2007 Old Ghost the highest rating of the Treasure Island Wine Festival Tasting. There were about 40 wineries in attendance with 140 wines being poured. In The Vineyard
This picture shows verasion (change of color) in a zinfandel grape cluster. We are running about 2 weeks behind schedule, due to the cooler weather this summer. Usually, the grapes have darker color by this time of year. Also, we are removing second crop, which if left on the vine, slows the ripening process on the primary clusters. We also do color thinning by removing greener fruit to insure uniform color and ripening of the clusters that are left on the vine. This picture was taken from a 90 year old vineyard in the Mokelumne River sub appellation of Lodi.

New Ratings For Klinker Brick Winery
2006 Old Ghost Old Vine Zinfandel recently received a 90 point rating from Wine Spectator in May on their website. Old Ghost also recieved a 5 star, 95 points from Beverage Dynamics, a national retail magazine. The 2006 Klinker Brick Old Zinfandel received a 87 from Wine Spectator in their June 30, 2009 issue.

In The Vineyard
This is our first blog. From time to time we will post pictures and talk about different stages of the vineyard and the Zinfandel and Syrah development as we head towards harvest.
In this picture we have posted some Zinfandel grapes from a 75 year old vineyard that are past the bloom stage and the berries are a little larger than the size of a green pea. These grapes are 3 1/2 months from harvest.
